Two More Reasons to Hire a Real Artist

by Jaybot7 on May 7, 2012

Yup, it’s that time again. Time to make fun of my drawing ability… and show what the new title screen for Arvale: TOM, Episode 4 will look like!

Click on the above to see my original layout sketch of the next title screen in all its stick-figure glory :)

Now, you may be wondering, ‘What the heck is it?!’ So I imagine a bit of explanation is in order.

As I have said previously, the game will branch off into three playable stories. Without giving too much away:

The top-left corner, is Duncan and Noko being chased by a Leviathan.

The top-right corner, has Chev working on something and Sakyra looking at the tools he is working with.

The bottom (uh, corner?), has Cyper up against a wall listening in on a conversation at night-time in the city of Garga.

So… perhaps you can ween some information about the upcoming story or gameplay from that bit of info there.

Oh right, and what it looks like when a real artist works on it?

It looks something a bit more like this:

Click on it see it in in all of its not-stick-figure glory… and Enjoy!

Oh, and if any of my previous posts on title screens are an indication… the release is probably coming up soon ;)

Without giving too much away, here are some shots from somewhere in the game :)

Arvale Episode IV, Stygia Screens

by Jaybot7 on October 23, 2010

Arvale Ep. 4 is still coming along, and I just thought I’d post a few screenshots of one of my favorite continents. Ever. That would be Stygia.

It’s always difficult recreating an old continent. Keeping true to how it looked and felt in any of the previous Arvale titles. But it’s a fun challenge, and Stygia is still one of my favorite areas. So I just thought I’d post some shots on how it’s progressing. You know, give a quick tour of the continent :)

Near Klumet, one of my favorite towns (which you’ll also see soon).

And the Ferryman, who is a staple of the series, second to possibly the Narrator and the Wheelbarrows.

Pike, the mining town was one of my favorite maps (and random quests) from the original Arvale: Journey of Illusion. You may also notice the new ‘Enter Town’ icon. I think it’s quite neat :)

A picture capturing the town of Idraces, the old Sorcynth Factory and the one of the dragon caves all at the same time. Man this is such a cool continent. Perhaps it’s just me.

You may have also noticed that Duncan is in none of these pictures. I could explain why, but that would totally ruin the story, so I’ll let you speculate for now.

More to come soon!

Arvale Episode IV, New Music

by Jaybot7 on September 22, 2010

That’s what my desk looks like recently as I’m writing a few more songs for the final episode of Arvale: Treasure of Memories.

It’s been some time since I composed anything so it took a bit longer than usual, but here you can listen to the song which will be used for the Airship scenes in the game:

Hikousen

Did I say Airship? I hope that doesn’t give away too much of the story ;)

Enjoy!

Arvale: Treasure of Memories, Episode 3 Video

by Jaybot7 on September 18, 2010

Since I released Arvale: Treasure of Memories, Episode 3, there has been a lot of interest in the game. Especially concerning many of the features and controls which are new, different, and awesome.

So, I figured I would make a video showing off the latest additions to the series, some new battles, new characters, new places, new scenes, new wheelbarrows, and of course some new gags :)

I totally should have made the video earlier, but you know what? I was busy. :)

Look forward to new even more tidbits of information about the Final Episode coming… soon-ish.
