Arvale for iPhone

by Jason Surguine on January 21, 2009

I should really post more stuff about what’s going on with me lately. You know, like a blog is supposed to. Anyway, Arvale: Journey of Illusion was recently ported and released for iPhone (around Xmas) and I’m very happy to see the overall positive response (Made number 4 in top RPGs in the US iTunes Store, has over 80 reviews so far, overall positive feedback, etc).

Since that is possibly the one game that I poured the most of my soul into more than any other title (including the story, level design, music, audio etc), I’m glad to see it reach a much larger audience and have it gain many more fans.

It almost makes me want to pick up the pen again and start designing Arvale III. Almost.

So what happened to it now? It seems to have disappeared from the store although nothing on the net offeres an explanation or even acknowledgement of the fact that it’s gone…

Yeah, I contacted PDAmill/Nav N Go about that and it seems that their Apple Developer’s license expired, which I guess affects all applications made by any developer, even the Free ones. No idea if they plan on renewing it or not… they haven’t been very active since I left.

That’s too bad about them dropping the license. I had the Arvale games for my Axim, had only loaded Journey of Illusion on my iPhone. Hope they renew it, not holding out hope for an iPad port but that would be great.

Thanks for the fun times with the games on the Win Mobile platform though!

Thanks for the comments. I almost thought about simply logging in and paying for the renewal of the license myself, but aside from that being slightly unethical… they changed the developer password so I couldn’t get in ;)

In the meantime, I’ll just continue the Arvale story on the PC with the Treasure of Memories series.

Thank you so much for posting what happened to pdamill games, i’d been searching for quite a long time, i really wish they would renew their license, because sure I do own both the arvale games and the mine cart, but the journey of illusion is a very un updated version so its old. I really wish they’d get their license back and make an ipad version. although that seems a little bit to much to hope for…
