Went to the new Siegfried and Roy’s Secret Garden thingy which involves more than white tigers now. They decided to add dolphins into the mix. What a weird combination. Unfortunately, they are never in the same exhibit at the same time.
Seeing dolphins VS. tigers would be an entertaining show all on its own. But first, breakfast.
In contrast with last night’s burger, this was the worst burger I have had in a long time. It reminded me of the fake burgers they used to serve at my middle school cafeteria. And it was $9?! Stay away from Burger Palace at the Imperial Palace.
It’s off-season for dolphin shows and such now, so tickets were super cheap, but that also means you have nothing to do but walk around and take pictures of swimming dolphins. Still fun though as you can do it from the pool above, or venture down into something which reminds me of SeaLab 2021:
And view dolphins devious deeds underneath the water.
To keep the dolphins healthy (or sedated, I’m not sure) they keep their environment under strict control using the latest technology from Final Fantasy VII:
It was behind glass, so I wasn’t able to go in and steal any materia 😉
It’s not just your dogs. Tigers like to sniff eachothers’ butts too. Even the magical white tigers here.
I’m still confused why they put a random llama in the middle of the exhibit. People kept trying to convince me that it wasn’t a llama. But come on! Look at it.
This tiger was looking directly at the camera when I was taking the picture. And then… he blinked. Dammit.
So I made sure not to blink when I did this close-up 🙂
Headed into the casino at Mandalay Bay to make my way to the buffet, which I’ve heard is fantastic. Ran into this uh, interesting version of Virtual Hold’em. I initially thought, ‘Wow, what a wonderful idea!’ Took me awhile to notice it was Texas Hold’em. 😉
The buffet at Mandalay Bay has by far the best food. Why go to a buffet? $15 gets you this much quality meat (prime rib, steak, crab legs, lamb chops)…
Let’s you play with one of these….
And has dessert so well crafted that you feel guilty just for taking a bite and ruining the artistic value. Luckily, it’s all unlimited food. Yeah, all you can eat. No time limit either 🙂
The effing strangest thing when entering this buffet though… was paying for it at the entrance, it has little machines which you pay for the tickets (that’s not too strange, I’ve been to Japan after all)…
After you swipe your card or insert your cash, the machine asks you, ‘Would you like to leave a tip?’ followed by a bunch of amounts. This is before you even enter the restaurant. And it’s a freaking machine. Asking for a tip. I’ll let you ponder over how ridiculous that is.
In other unnecessary technology news… this was on the way out of the hotel. Left your charger at home? In your hotel room? Put $8 in this machine and plug in your device and stand around for 10 minutes while it charges!
Luckily, they have a TV full of advertisements for you to watch while your device charges. Brilliant. Did I mention it was only $8? What a steal!
Then I watched the best show I have seen in ages.
I had no idea what to expect. I was floored. The music and the acting and the entire production was top notch. I got teary-eyed a few times and not simply from nostalgia from the movie. It was really good. I forgot how great some of Hans Zimmer’s compositions were. They even extending some of his best pieces and made them into new songs. If you get the chance, see the Lion King musical… er show? Stage production. Whatever it’s called. It’s awesome.
I gotta go finish up Arvale, see you soon 🙂
