House is the best show on TV, possibly ever.

The reason why House is so successful is because it has three distinct, but very important audiences:

Smart people: who are miserable and take it out on the world with intelligent sarcasm; they like to see themselves portrayed as if they were even smarter (like a doctor!) and even more miserable (like a maimed leg!), because then they could get away with it even more.

Old ladies: who want to have a smart ass that isn’t their husband, so they can see that it’s not just them getting verbally abused all the time.

Everyone else.
