Down But Not Out

by Jason Surguine on March 5, 2010

I had to go to the hospital yesterday (okay, two days ago) for intense back/abdominal pain. The above pic was the only one I could snap before I finally passed out. It’s from the bandage from the IV drip they put me on.

During the experience, I had a nice chat with the local police box, a fun ride in an ambulance, and a lovely time in a local hospital.

It turned out to be kidney stones. Apparently it’s quite painful and all of the nice adjectives above describing the experience could be considered antonyms to the actual experience.

In any case, it knocked me on my ass for two days and I wouldn’t wish the experience on anyone.

However, it was a wonderful opportunity to use my Japanese for 腰、 胃、お腹、痛い、交番、救急車、病院、痛み止め、ブスコパン、腎臓、石、血圧、and all sorts of words I didn’t think I would ever need to use.

In any case, I’m slowly recovering and luckily it’s the weekend so I won’t have to worry about missing any more classes.

Have a wonderful weekend :)

Hey Tom! Yeah, they all passed now and all sorts of weird inside places are sore where I didn’t think possible.

I hope you had a great time in Hannover. I remember last time we were there and I made all sorts of trouble ;)

Sorry to hear you’ve been ill. I remember when I was a child my father had kidney stones and the awful pain he was in. He could barely move. In those days you had to wait for them to “pass” out of your system.
Take care and get well soon!

Thanks Auntiggy :)

Even these days… I still had to wait for it to pass through my system as it was too far along the path to do anything. They gave me some pain killers and told me to drink a bunch of water. Luckily, it came out the next day.

Not fun, but I’m glad it’s over with ;)
