5 bits of Personal Information which are Perhaps Odd and Possibly Embarrassing

by Jason Surguine on July 23, 2009

I love reading personal info stuff on blogs. It’s always the small, weird details that many people share which make us strangely human. Reading about some weird habit or experience that someone else had and thinking ‘Hey, me too!’ is always a fun experience, and the internet is for wonderful for that. So I figured I’d share too.

I have a terrible habit of chewing on pens, subconsciously, and HARD.  I have officially broken my teeth doing this on 3 occasions. (One of which was in Hungary; visiting a Dentist to have it fixed was an adventure in itself). In addition, I ground the heck out of my teeth as a kid, resulting in really small teeth. I now have 7 crowned teeth in my mouth. My smile must be really expensive. :)

I eat croutons as a snack. I like the crunch and the flavors. According to the box, it says croutons are actually a healthier alternative to fried snacks. I imagine the same applies to fruit, but they failed to mention that.

I have mostly illegible handwriting (in English). Everyone thought I was going to be a doctor :P . I recently had to fill in an application with actual, legible handwriting, and it was trial of endurance to create writing for other humans to read. Ironically, my Japanese 漢字 (Kanji) is quite legible and sometimes cute. Go figure.

I don’t clip my toenails with a toenail clipper. Nor do I bite them (is that possible? For Yoga instructors maybe…). My toenails are never brittle and are pliable enough to simply bend and pull the toenail edge off with my fingers in a matter of seconds. (Gross? Sorry.)

I lived on a friend’s couch for 2 years. I didn’t have much cash at the time, and couldn’t seem to get any work done at my parent’s house (not because of me; some people have a hard time understanding the concept of working while not in an office), so I decided to sleep and work on my friends couch for two years doing contract work for games and building up my portfolio until I made enough money to pay that friend rent for another 2 years.

I hope at least one of those made you smile :) If you have any weird things to share, please feel free to post it in the comments.
