Jaybot Interviewed by Just Another Mobile Monday, Part 2

by Jason Surguine on August 31, 2009

Just Another Mobile Monday just released the second half of their interview with me today. You can check it out: here. The First Part was: here.

This time I discuss a bit about my music background and upcoming games from PDAmill Game Studios.

Apparently, the answers that I gave to their interview questions were so thorough that they’ve decided to break it up further into a Part 3 as well. So I assume, they’ll have more on me (that sounds weird) next week. Stay Tuned.

I won’t comment on the fact that they misspelled my name when they first published it (Sanguine… I’m betting a spell-check happened to Surguine). Whoops, I guess that was a comment. ;)

The Lazy Man’s Way to Tokyo

by Jason Surguine on August 31, 2009

Okay, it’s September 1st (on this side of the world). I’ve been hanging out in Tokyo for far too long without posting stuff about it.

So I’ve decided over my last 20 days here to write a post each day about what I did for the day, and try to gives reasons and answers like: why Tokyo is a lot cheaper than you’ve been told, how gross/tasty the food is here, and what the hell there is to do here if you’re as much of a lazy bastard as I am :)

This morning, I woke up around noon (hey, I was up till 3am working on Arvale: ST) and got breakfast for two people (you know, donuts and stuff) from a Sunkus (a convenience store, actually owned by Circle K), and picked up drinks (Coke, Tea, Red Bull, etc) for the next few days… spent about $10. Pretty much what I would have spent at any Cricle K in the states.

Day 1 continues: here

And it really starts to pick up momentum around Day 2: here ;)

Here’s a Quick Way to Destroy your Umbrella

by Jason Surguine on August 31, 2009

Take it outside during a Typhoon in Tokyo.

Yeah, yeah, I should have known better, but it didn’t look that windy before I went outside.

No, that umbrella is not the one I used, I grabbed that online somewhere. The real umbrella is in much worse condition (and my digital camera is all the way across the room, too much work).

Even worse, it was my girlfriend’s umbrella. Which she liked (enough to spend money on it, at least).

She’s not incredibly happy right now. :)

Another Typhoon, Another Manga

by Jason Surguine on August 30, 2009

Another typhoon is currently happening in the Tokyo area. This really just means a lot of heavy rain and wind. No lightning, so it’s still safe to take a bath ;)

Recently, I picked up the manga, ‘One Piece’. It’s about a boy who wants to become a pirate :) . To spice things up, he eats some ancient pirate curse and ends up with stretchy skills like Mr. Fantastic from the Fantastic Four. However, unlike Mr. Fantastic, the main character, ルフィ (Rufie? in English) is completely endearing as he is quite stupid and completely honest. It reminds me a lot of Guybrush from Monkey Island or Duncan from Arvale. As I mentioned in my article about the Monomyth, It allows you to be sucked into the story and follow the adventure along with the main character (as his naivete makes everything you both experience to be new).

The adventure also feels like an epic RPG, as Rufie travels from island to island and meets new characters which join his party along the way and add their own special skills to his team. I’ve often wondered why there hasn’t been a really good Pirate RPG game written.

New government for Japan.

by Jason Surguine on August 30, 2009

Like I said this morning, today was Japanese Election day.

The preliminary results are in and it looks like my guess was right. The new government party (Democratic Party of Japan) won by a landslide. Let’s hope they can do some good for the country. Stock prices should start finally going up on the Nikkei, that’s a good start.

On that note, I’m going back to sleep :)
